Bart is an experienced manager with more than 20 years experience in Data and Artificial Intelligence. At BNPParibasFortis Bart manages the Center of Excellence on Analytics and Artificial Intelligence overseeing portfolio of analytics products, with a strong focus on machine learning and AI, and creating breakthrough technologies in Marketing Analytics, NLP, Chatbots, Computational Process Optimisation and Analytical Fraud and Risk Management. He is responsible for defining and implementing the bank’s AI Strategy with a strong focus on value creation. In his role as head of AI, he is also a permanent member of the Data Department reporting directly to the Chief Data Officer.

Bart obtained a Master in Physics, a Master in Artificial Intelligence, and a PhD in Mathematical Engineering from the University of KULeuven with a thesis on Large Scale Machine Learning.
After his PhD he joined several consulting companies specialised in analytics, incl. Deloitte Consulting. Additionally, Bart took management positions in the Financial Industry in Risk Management, Transformation Management and Data Management.  During these roles he started specialized in building efficient data and AI strategies and optimizing analytics teams towards performance.
